Seeking Part-Time Coordinator for Homeless Day Shelter (Safe Haven)
Safe Haven is a faith based drop-in day shelter in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church that provides meals, respite, medical assistance, and county social services to the homeless and hungry. Drop in services are available 2 days/week.
The Coordinator will work with volunteers to schedule ongoing volunteer support for Safe Haven, including the development of publicity and local outreach to faith and educational organizations. Responsibilities include inventory, maintaining supplies, on-site management, and evaluations. Communication with host congregation and development of relationships will be key.
Qualifications required: proven leadership and organizational skills; computer, communications, and relational skills; and a genuine interest in human services. Spanish language capability desired. Some weekend activity required.
The Coordinator will be an Independent Contractor. This is a one year (renewable) position, 16-18 hours/week. The Safe Haven program is an initiative of First Christian Church in conjunction with the Falls Church Community Service Council.
