Music Ministries
Music is a vital part of the worship life and ministries of First Christian Church. Under the direction of Lunette Arledge, Director of Music Ministries, the Chancel Choir sings weekly at the 10:45 service, accompanied by piano or our brilliant organ. The Carol Choir for children and the youth choir, led by Bill Rife, offer our young people an opportunity to praise God through song. Chris Roussey directs the handbell choir, which provides additional music. Sunday morning worship often includes music by brass, woodwind, or drums.
Our choirs practice on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Bell Choir, directed by professional trumpeter and musician with the elite herald trumpets of the US Army, Christopher Roussey, meets Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Sanctuary Choir meets Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 9 pm, directed by Lunette Arledge. The Ensemble Choir meets on Sunday mornings following our 10:45 worship, also directed by Lunette as does our Youth Choir (schedule varies). William Rife directs our Carol Choir (second through fifth graders), which meets following the anthem during our 10:45 am service.
This is a congregation that takes seriously the Psalm: “Sing a joyful song unto the Lord!”
