A movement for wholeness in a fragmented world

Open and Affirming Statement

Sunday, November 13 marks a significant day in the life of First Christian Church. We made a statement to the church and the world regarding our welcoming hospitality. At a meeting of the congregation we affirmed that we are an Open and Affirming Congregation.

In the midst of all the anger and concern in our culture at the current time, through our statement we declare that we are for all people. This is a congregation that is caring, supportive and loving of all God’s people. We make a statement for hope and acceptance. Praise be to God for the love that is found here at First Christian Church. May we be a light of love for all people.

First Christian Church of Falls Church is an Open and Affirming Congregation. We openly welcome persons of all sexual orientation, gender expression, socioeconomic status, family configuration, age, national origin, race, religious or non-religious background, and physical or mental condition. We embrace all people at any point in their faith journey and recognize each person’s spiritual gifts. We proclaim God’s inclusive welcome to the Communion Table, and affirm that full and equal participation in the life and leadership of our church is open to all. We seek to continue to learn and grow in our efforts to be a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.
